Punjabi actress Himanshi Khurana (born 27 November 1991) is an Indian model and singer who acts in Punjabi films. Himanshi Khurana first appeared in the Punjabi movie Sadda Haq. In 2019, the actress and model gained fame by participating in the reality show Bigg Boss 13 as a contestant. She entered Bigg Boss 13 with a bang as her presence led to an emotional outburst by Shehnaaz Gill, as the two shared an ugly feud. As already revealed by the two ladies, their past social media criticism developed into a major fight. Both of the girls began to abuse each other’s family. All in all, Himanshi Khurana was in the news not just for her Bigg Boss appearance, music videos, and projects, but also for her relationship with Asim Riaz. There were constant rumors of the couple’s break-up after Asim proposed at the House. They shut down the break-up rumors when the two were spotted at the airport together.

Khurana came into this world on 27 November 1991 and hails from Kiratpur Sahib, Punjab. She is two years older than her fiancé Asim Riaz. She considers her mother, Suneet Kaur, as a strong motivation in her life.

In November 2019, Khurana confirmed on Bigg Boss 13 that she is in a committed relationship with a certain boyfriend. They were together for nine years and he is named Chow. By January 2020, Himanshi Khurana confirmed on Twitter that her relationship had ended with her fiancé. She has been dating her Bigg Boss co-contestant Asim Riaz since January 2020.

Career:

Coming all the way from Kiratpur Sahib and completing her studies in Ludhiana, Himanshi began her Bollywood career working for many hit Punjabi video songs like Na Na Na, Laden, Soch, Thokda Reha etc. The acting debutante did a fantastic job in the movie Saada Haq which helped her gain fame and love in Punjabi cinema.  

When it comes to her modelling career, Khurana started her modelling career at the age of 16 when she became Miss Ludhiana. She was one of the finalists in Miss PTC Punjabi 2010. In the same year she won the Miss North Zone contest organised in Chandigarh.

The actress soon made her debut in the Punjabi Music industry with the song “Jodi – Big Day Party” (Panjabi MC & Kuldeep Manak) in 2010. Later, in 2012, she starred in the music videos for (Fasli Bateray) by (Feroz Khan) and Izhaar (Harjot). In 2013, Khurana was seen in Soch (Hardy Sandhu) and the hit movie Sadda Haq.[6]The year 2015 proved to be a very successful year for Khurana as she worked with many singers, including Jassi Gill, Badshah, J Star, Ninja, Mankirt Aulakh and others. In March 2016 she starred alongside Sukh-E (Muzical Doctorz) in Sad Song. In 2018 Khurana made her debut as a singer with the song High Standard.

Khurana made her debut in Punjabi cinema as an actor with the Punjabi movie Sadda Haq which helped her in gaining fame. Although her first Bollywood movie was Jeet Lengey Jahaan (2012). She then appeared as a lead role in the Punjabi movie Leather Life (featuring Aman Dhaliwal as male lead). 

The 2015 Punjabi language film 2 Bol also features Khurana as a lead actress. The film, directed and written by Sahib Singh, will feature Sonpreet Jawanda (male lead) alongside Himanshi Khurana. She was provided this project post the success of the movie Saada Haq. She did impeccable work in the movie. The movie shot in Phagwara, Punjab, explores drug abuse and promotes Sikhi. 2 Bol also allows these young generation artists to bring a change in the society and set an example of purity.

A versatile feat of nature, she also acted in six south Indian Movies – 2 Kannada, 2 Tamil, 1 Telugu, 1 Malayalam.

She gained the most fame in November 2019, by participating as a celebrity contestant in the thirteenth season of the Indian version of the reality TV show Big Brother, Bigg Boss.

Last year in 2020, Khurana was ranked No.1 in the “Most Tweeted Indian Music Artists of 2020 award” . With as many as 16 Punjabi and Hindi songs that were released last year, Himanshi Khurana had a great 2020. And she reveals that this year too, her fans can expect to see more of her on screen as she has more singles coming up and some of them are with her boyfriend, model-actor Asim Riaz. 

Khurana, 29, is also considering acting projects. “There are short films, Punjabi TV show and Hindi web series that I’m in talks for. I’m very clear that I can’t do intimate scenes. I’ve said no to projects because of that. Asim and I were supposed to do a Bollywood project but that also got pushed because of the pandemic,” she shares.

Talking about Riaz and her pairing on screen, the couple had released four songs in 2020 — Kalla sohna nai, Afsos karoge, Khyaal rakheya kar and Dil ko Maine Di kasam — and all of them fared well.

Asim Riaz and Himanshi Khurana: 

For those who don’t know Asim fell head over heels in love with Himanshi inside the house and even confessed it to her, but she had made it clear that she is engaged to her long-time boyfriend. 

In the reality TV show, we saw Himanshi ignoring Asim Riaz’s flirtatious approach in one of the tasks. When we asked her if she would be open to having a relationship on the show, she said, “I am already in love, and there’s nothing that can affect my bond with my man. It won’t happen for sure.”

Calling Asim Riaz’s fondness for her ‘ek tarfa’, the actress and model tried to explain to him that reality won’t change as she loves her beau, ‘Chow’. Himanshi opened up to Asim that she loves ‘Chow’. That’s the name she used to address her boyfriend. Soon, Bigg Boss showed a photo of Himanshi’s fiancé – Chow. 

Asim Riaz on the other hand, persisted about his feelings and said, “My vibe is different when I sit with you. I am not myself.” Himanshi, who used to keep a safe distance from Asim earlier, said that she too wants to know how she feels around him.

Himanshi then mentioned to Asim to understand the reality. She added he will come across as a ‘Majnu’ to the audience. She said, “I can’t control your feelings, but you know the reality.”

The reality was that both Asim and Himanshi confessed their feelings for each other soon enough. Himanshi Khurana got evicted but came back to the house as a single woman. The makers of the show revealed this by sharing two promos, which showed Asim looking happy at her arrival and going down on his knee to propose to her for marriage. Asim goes on to propose to her in the garden area in the presence of all the other housemates. The Arijit Singh song Sachiya Mohabbta Ve is heard playing in the background. Asim goes down on one knee, holds her hand and says, “Himanshi, I really love you. I want to spend my life with you. I will love you forever. I have never said this to anyone, you are the first girl. Will you marry me?” He offers her a rose and asks her again, “Do you love me?”  And she replies, “I do”. She had also shared a shayari for him, “Hum tumhari mehfil se udh ke gaye chup chap, tumhara peejhe mud mud kar dekhna hume badnaam kar gaya.”

She’s not in a rush to get married:

There have been a lot of rumours surrounding Khurana and Riaz tying the knot soon, but she clarifies that such a decision cannot be taken in haste.

“Pehle logon ko hamare relationship pe shaq tha, ab yeh sab bol rahe hain. We’re in no hurry. We’re right now concentrating on our work and being there for each other. Hamari communities aur religion alag hain. Our families are happy for us, but a relationship needs time,” she continued. 

The modelling couple met on the Bigg Boss show last year and their romance on the show made headlines, driving fans wild. A year later, ask Khurana what makes Riaz the special one in her life, and she gushes “He has struggled hard to be where he is today. He takes time to open up and doesn’t talk much. Toh logon ko lagta hai unme attitude hai. In reality, Asim is caring, loving and supportive. If he’s ordering food for himself, he also orders food for his family in Jammu and my family in Chandigarh.”

She said Shehnaaz Gill ‘ruined’ her love life:

Bigg Boss 13 Contestants Himanshi Khurana and Shehnaaz Gill have had a sour relationship on the show and even had an ugly past before their entry in the house.

Punjabi singer, model, and actress Himanshi Khurana was evicted from Bigg Boss 13 but this gave her time to open up about her nemesis Shehnaaz Gill and precisely what formed their rivalry. She also alleged that the channel airing Salman Khan’s reality show, Colors, is biased as it shows only a certain side of the contestants. Himanshi Khurana has claimed to have been depicted as the villain while Shehnaaz always pushed her to the edge.

Blaming the channel (Colors) for choosing and showing certain sides of contestants, Himanshi mentioned to Spotboye in an interview, “Colors showed me pushing Shehnaaz. But they didn’t show why I pushed her. I was pushed to the edge. By Shehnaaz herself. She gave me gaalis and provoked me. And that was also not shown. So, after I pushed her, it came across as if I was the villain and Shehnaaz was innocent. And even Salman sir was not ready to believe my version. In fact, he didn’t even hear me out. He said that he doesn’t want to listen to my side of the story. And, that was unfair. Shehnaaz troubled me a lot inside the house.”

If you’re wondering how it all started, then Himanshi opened up about her previous feud with Shehnaaz: “The less said how she ruined my love life before BB, the better. My boyfriend’s brother is a fun-loving person. And, Shehnaaz managed to brainwash him. She told him: Kya tumko nahin lagta ki tumhari bhi girlfriend aisi koi well-to-do honi chahiye? Nahin toh, Himanshi ka rutba family mein jyaada rahega (Don’tyou feel you should have a well-to-do girlfriend? Otherwise, Himanshi’s stature will always be more in the family). This somehow went on to create a dent between the two brothers. Till date, they’re hardly on talking terms”.

“She poisoned my boyfriend’s elder brother’s mind. She told him a lot of false things about 

me. The brother discussed all that with my boyfriend. This disturbed my equation with Wirk no end. And let me also tell you that it created a rift between the two brothers,” she continued. 

“I have a boyfriend and his surname is Wirk. Dunno why everyone thinks it’s Amy Wirk. I think that happened because one of our pictures- he dressed as a groom and I was wearing a lehenga- went viral. I clarified but you know how it is on social media- negative things get more inflamed than the positive ones,” Himanshi told the entertainment website.

The Punjab born Himanshi has also been accused of taking advantage of Shehnaaz’s popularity. The singer-model said, “Why would I need to take advantage of her popularity? I have been working in the industry for 10 years, and I collaborate with only A-listers. Also, if you look at our social media following, you would know who is more popular in real. Also, not everyone can handle fame, I am mature enough to be grounded.”
