As much as 2021 has been a bit of a slow year when it comes to major releases, it looks like things are going to really heat up in 2022, especially when it comes to shooter games. CrossfireX
Made in partnership between Remedy, which took care of the single player elements, and Smilegate, which made the multiplayer free to play, CrossfireX is exclusive to Xbox systems and aims to bring to consoles an even more polished version of the FPS experience of the original Crossfire. The open beta has already been successful in 2020, but the team needed a little more time to work on the project and ensure that all its components are epic. It is already available if you want to check it out.
Rainbow Six: Quarantine
Another option for online games that are successful this year is Rainbow Six: Quarantine.
It is a shooting game that can be played with other players. They are teams of three players that face missions against threats from aliens.
Redfall
After the success of Deathloop, Arkane is back to create yet another shooter with the potential to break new ground. Finally, exclusive to Xbox after the purchase of Bethesda by Microsoft, this game will have a more open world with four playable characters. Alone or as a team of players, you have to defeat vampires and humans in the city that gives the game its name ; it must have the same immersion and depth as the studio’s other releases.
STALKER 2 Heart of Chernobyl
After some controversy with the announcement – and subsequent removal – of the sale of NFTs, STALKER 2 ended up being delayed by almost a year, which is bad news for its loyal fan base that was itching to get their hands on the sequel soon, but also good news as we know that developers will have more time to finish their ambitious project peacefully and will take full advantage of the Unreal Engine 5 engine.
Atomic Heart
For those looking to get away from the big studios and try something different, Atomic Heart is being produced by a Russian studio called Mundfish, and its FPS should include some pretty cool RPG mechanics, allowing you to improvise weapons and create items from pieces of metal obtained inside the game. As the gameplay will offer little ammo, using resources well and stealth will be the key to progress. But it’s best to be cautiously optimistic, as there’s been some news about internal problems at the studio. The only way is to wait and see…
Shadow Warrior 3
The direct sequel to Shadow Warrior 2 is finally on its way, so you can set aside your best weapons to visit “Neo-Feudal Japan” in yet another bloodbath and non-stop adrenaline madness. Lo Wang returns to work, carrying from a katana to the most varied weapons and gadgets, to advance through more linear stages than the predecessor. With double jumps and even a hook, this has to be the most agile and vertical title in the franchise so far, and a good choice to turn off your brain a little and just have fun. Definitely a good game; worth checking.
System Shock Remake
The original 1994 System Shock was one of the most influential and pioneering computer games, undoubtedly becoming one of the mainstays of the immersive sim genre. If you missed the game at the time — or you weren’t even born yet — you’ll have another chance to receive a history lesson with this remake being made by Nightdive Studios in partnership with Koch Media. I hope they can honor this gigantic legacy!
Splatoon 3
With each new title in the series, Splatoon gets even more popular and conquers a few million more fans across the planet, and it’s expected that the third chapter will do even better. The shootout between teams has excellent gameplay that has already earned it some awards at The Game Awards and a strong competitive presence. Let’s see if, with the new game, Nintendo can further explore the global potential for Splatoon esports between games shot.
Gotham Knights
Another highly sought-after online game is Gotham Knights. In this game, Batman is dead and the city of Gotham City is being threatened by the criminal world.
The objective is to make the pupils try to fight the crimes that happen in the city, with a lot of adrenaline and fun in the air. Through the game, you will be able to participate in combats and solve mysteries. Also, in a single match, up to four players will be able to play at once.
