Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor had received an arrest warrant for their erotic web series ‘XXX’. The complaint filed by an ex-serviceman Shambhu Kumar that the second season of the series featured several objectionable scenes related to a soldier’s wife back in 2020. The Supreme Court on Friday slammed producer Ekta Kapoor over reprehensible content in her web series released on an OTT platform.
Today the Supreme Court slammed Ekta Kapoor over ‘objectionable content’ in her web series XXX saying she was polluting the minds of the youthful generation of this country. The court was hearing a plea filed by Ekta Kapoor challenging the arrest clearance issued against her for allegedly insulting soldiers and hurting the sentiments of their families in the web series.
“Something has to be done. You are polluting the minds of the young generation of this country. It is available to all. OTT content is available to all. What kind of choice are you providing to the people? On the contrary you are polluting the minds of youngsters” said bench of Justices Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravikumar.
The top court has kept the pending matter while suggesting that a local lawyer may be put to work to know about the status of the hearing in the high court. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi who is also the lawyer to Kapoor has submitted in SC that the matter is filed before the Patna high court but may not be listed for hearing anytime soon.
